Angelo Zinna

Travel and culture writer based between Florence and Helsinki. I’ve authored ten Lonely Planet guidebooks and reported stories ranging from the revitalization of endangered Arctic languages and the rebirth of Estonian dead songs to Baltic bear conservation and Lenin cults in provincial Italy for National Geographic, BBC, New Lines Magazine, Adventure.com and The European Correspondent and more.

I typically work across Italy, Finland, the Baltics, and the Caucasus, focusing on cities, islands, heritage and collective memory. Occasionally, my architecture photography appears in publications large and small, from Condé Nast Traveler to the Atlas of Ruins, and the odd Tokyo gallery. Italian-language side quests include the award-winning audio documentary Kult and the short story Città Tonica (Einaudi, 2025).
